Biography
Lifelong interest in higher consciousness, never believed in scientific materialism but had difficulty in articulating a consistent alternative. Experienced God-consciousness at age 16 with the help of LSD. Studied Ram Dass, Stanislav Grof, and others extensively from a young age. Later realizations in life were very similar to those expressed in the lineage of the Indian guru, Nisargadatta Maharaj or the ancient philosophy of Advaita Vedanta — the universe is Not-Two (i.e. there is no separation between apparent physical matter and that which perceives it – I AM THAT). While these realizations eliminated the core of suffering in my life, they were the realization of pure BEING. Part of me has been looking for an equal level of realization regarding DOING.
Teachers like Amit Goswami and Joe Dispenza are providing the bridge between the prevailing scientific materialism worldview and the emerging one which lets us see that we are indeed in a participatory universe as John Wheeler said.
